After the shoot was postponed for a week, the end result from the “Chuck” themed shoot was a total success! I haven’t had such a good time at a photo shoot in awhile! I always want to do shoots based off of some of my favorite shows from this point onward. I am most definitely a pop culture inspired photographer!
Bird Inspired Fashion Shoot

Model: Alexandra Carter, Shelby Scarborough & Julia Savage
Today marks the first day I’ve woken up before the sun was up and I still didn’t get to see the sunrise during the drive down A1A. It was an early morning heading toward Maitland to do a personal shoot with Kristia. The basis of the shoot was to get some great fashion photos to submit to magazines. Joining the shoot was Vincent Pierce and his videographer friend who shot video of the photographers and models in action all day.
The photo shoot took place at the Maitland Art Center, a location that had to be reserved and paid for to be taken over by a fashion shoot. Taking over a room outdoors, the models having already been put into hair and makeup at an earlier location, all the equipment was spread out and the videographer set up his massive tripod in the courtyard.
Two of the models I had worked with on two previous shoots. Alex from the wedding collaboration with Kristia and Shelby from the Betsy Hansen workshop a few semesters back. Vincent had brought along Julia from Jacksonville and she was a fantastic model throughout the day. It was nice getting to chat with Alex and her mom throughout the shoot day. Also, I had snapped a behind the scenes photo on my phone that both MUA fell in love with it and asked for me to email them the photo on the spot.
I definitely love the more elaborate shoots that I do with Kristia. There is always so much activity going on around the shoot that you don’t normally get with smaller sessions. Not to mention, getting to know the names of places to get amazing clothes and jewelry is always a plus and used as reference for the future.
I was able to move around the shoot strictly shooting behind the scenes images. Whenever Vincent is shooting with Kristia, most of the reflector duties alternates between the two of them depending on who is shooting. The videographer moved around the shoot, taping Vincent and Kristia (and occasionally me whenever he’d drift around the edges of the shoot!). This was my official last shoot under the internship for this semester, but I hope to continue assisting in the future now that I have an entire summer with an endless number of free hours to work with.
For going on a year now, I have been talking to a good friend of mine about doing a Chuck themed photo shoot and this week it shall finally be brought to life! I have always seen a some Chuck Bartowski in my friend, Emerigh, and finally we shall see how it goes this Wednesday. I have even prepared myself to be a red headed version of Sarah Walker – killer heels and all. I hope to be able to share photos from the shoot this coming weekend, so be on the look out for the awesome that will be the Charles Carmichael shoot!
